about
In “Class Warfare”, I grapple with the thought of imperialist nations, like the US, Canada, the UK, always putting themselves first, to the detriment of everyone else (and, ultimately, even themselves). The same goes for all forms of hierarchy - patriarchy, white supremacy, classism, and so on. “The view from the peak, clouds float underneath”: those in power have their view of “the valley below” obscured by in-group affirmations, enabling them to justify their own actions as self-preservation. Statements like “we have to keep ourselves safe before we can help others” appear across multiple contexts, from hoarding COVID-19 vaccines to the militarization of police. These examples represent a vicious circle of social inequity and environmental destruction that breed greater inequity and destruction. I aim to draw attention to these problems, but end the song in resolve, trusting that learning, activism, mutual aid, and prefiguration (creating pieces of the society you want) can “blow [the problems] away”.
lyrics
Standing in queue under skies colored blue in the city
Bricks on the ground feet all click or they pound as we wait
Grateful to wait as we place all our faith in a science
A sought after sigh of relief through our teeth in parade
And yet the whole world won’t even know we went
It’s class warfare and that’ll come our way again
An integral part of the process so oft overlooked
Like a trout out of water we won’t make it out of the brook
And like a bee with no flower we’re missing the power to live
We’re aphids on plants sucking life from the land in denial
And soon the whole world won’t remember we went
It’s class warfare and that’ll come our way again
Oh, the view from the peak
Clouds float underneath
View from the peak
Clouds float underneath
Winds will blow them away

Since purchasing I return again and again to this collection of tunes that cover a range of 90's-influenced guitar rock styles.
The mostly bite-sized songs make me both appreciate that Gaadge don't beat a good tune to death and leave me wanting more. Fact Checker23
You know, this album, and particularly "Perfect World" give this sort of "your life is what you make it" kind of theme to it---all while being served with a very hip and catchy melody...personally I'm transitioning from #3 to #2 in terms of this song, and it only took 23 years! Aaron Jay Turkheimer
On their latest LP, the Austin group peel away the synth and distortion to highlight the jangly melodies at the core of their songs. Bandcamp Album of the Day Mar 9, 2022
